Delightful Insanity

Being Thankful

Today T and I had our first go around cooking Thanksgiving dinner, just the two of us, for about 15 people…..and I all I have to say is I am EXHAUSTED! Whew! Well, we decided last year that we would do the cooking for dinner with T’s side of the family, since her mom (who just turned 70)  usually does it. So T’s mom, or Nana as the FurKids call her, had the day off from cooking and cleaning and she spent most of it outside playing with her GrandPups, Miss Jury and Mister Ruka (I’ll post some pictures of their day later). She had an easy, relaxing day meanwhile, we were up at 6am to put a 20+ pound turkey in the oven and then cooking and cleaning for another 7 hours! Yeah we soooo took a nappy after dinner, haha.  All in all it was a good day and I am thankful that I was able to spend it with my amazing fiancée and most of our crazy family! Though I can definitely wait another 12 months to do all if that cooking again! Haha!

I hope everyone out there had a great holiday filled with great food and even better company!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh and I have been nominated for a Liebster Blog Award, by the lovely Amy over at TTC Obstacle Course!! I am SO excited! Hopefully I’ll have that post up soon 🙂

New season, new start on life…

Hi there! It’s me again with another apologetic post about my extreme absence of blogging. This time it wasn’t my fault I swear! All of us here in the realm of the delightfully insane have been going through some crazy things…

There have been big, life altering revelations that will not only change our lives at home, but will give me far more time (hopefully) and interesting content for my poor neglected blog.

Here it goes…..

The news:
I have withdrawn from school, for now at least, and T and I are going to pursue our dream of starting our own business!

The explanation:
The catalyst that prompted this career change was that the government cut the state’s education funding and as a result all of my grants were cut in half and I also didn’t receive one or two that I usually do. The result of this was that I now owed my university over five thousand dollars, whereas previous semesters I paid far, far less! Now I don’t know about any of you, but five thousand dollars is not something that I can just dish out. And I had no idea about any of this until I had already purchased my extremely expensive books and started the semester.

T and I had a long talk about what we could do about this, but eventually I decided that it was, in fact, a good thing that this happened. I have been debating with myself about whether or not I really, truly wanted to be a teacher and this grant thing was the red flag I needed to help me to know what I really wanted for a career and for our family.

So, withdrew from school, completely changed career directions and T and I are now in the process of building our homemade treats business! Everyone has always enjoyed our homemade chocolates and candies and we love and enjoy making them, so once we thought about it this transition was a no brainer. We’re not only planning to make candies, but also desserts and freshly caned items, such as jellies or salsas, etc. We are going to be doing craft fairs and even catering parties and hopefully soon we’ll have a store to sell our wonderful creations. I’m even looking into building a website, so that we can take orders from all over, but we have to figure out long distance preservation and shipping!

Wish us luck please! 🙂

Oh and now we have more time to concentrate on some serious baby-making 😉
