Delightful Insanity

Winter Doggy Duds

T and I are selling our homemade goodies at this Huge 2-day craft show and of course we can’t not buy anything! Our first purchase is, of course, for the FurKids. These were just too darn cute to pass up!

image

Yes, yes. They are fleece scarves for doggies! We don’t usually put clothes on our FurKids, however I think accessories are much more acceptable, especially since Mister Ruka LOVES to wear them! 🙂  He’ll adore his new winter wardrobe and I’m sure Miss Jury will be at least a little excited, if not she’ll just wear it anyway to appease her crazy Moms. Hopefully I can get few good pictures of them with the scarves on before they start tugging each other around by them 🙂

Being Thankful

Today T and I had our first go around cooking Thanksgiving dinner, just the two of us, for about 15 people…..and I all I have to say is I am EXHAUSTED! Whew! Well, we decided last year that we would do the cooking for dinner with T’s side of the family, since her mom (who just turned 70)  usually does it. So T’s mom, or Nana as the FurKids call her, had the day off from cooking and cleaning and she spent most of it outside playing with her GrandPups, Miss Jury and Mister Ruka (I’ll post some pictures of their day later). She had an easy, relaxing day meanwhile, we were up at 6am to put a 20+ pound turkey in the oven and then cooking and cleaning for another 7 hours! Yeah we soooo took a nappy after dinner, haha.  All in all it was a good day and I am thankful that I was able to spend it with my amazing fiancée and most of our crazy family! Though I can definitely wait another 12 months to do all if that cooking again! Haha!

I hope everyone out there had a great holiday filled with great food and even better company!! Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh and I have been nominated for a Liebster Blog Award, by the lovely Amy over at TTC Obstacle Course!! I am SO excited! Hopefully I’ll have that post up soon 🙂

Loki Update

Remember that poor, almost dead kitten that we found in the middle of the road last August? Well it has been a while since I’ve mentioned him, so I thought I would give him an update post 🙂

Loki  was an all around crazy cat once he fully recovered from his many, many ailments. Well to be blunt, he was a bit bipolar; one second he would walk up to you and want to be scratched and then in a split second, Bam!, your hand/arm would become his personal scratch & chew toy! He would randomly walk up to you, smack you with his paw/bite you, then make an attempt at a hissing noise, and then run away. He was, to say the least, a terror. However, all of that changed in just one day. You see, what happened was that I finally got my way and that special appointment at the veterinarian was made. Yep, once that little viper was castrated he became the most lovable and snuggly little pussycat! He did a complete turn around! He was a completely different cat once he came home from the vet! All he needed was a little neutering, Ha-ha!

Now Loki and Ruka are best friends and play, nap, and cause mischief together. It is really cute and a little bizarre at times. I hope to adopt another furry feline friend for our family, but it may be a little while yet… 😦

Happy, snuggly boy 🙂

Photography Challenge: Days 2,3 & 4…

I swear it was not my fault that I missed so many challenge days! Our internet was down and we just got it fixed today, But I have been keeping up with the actual taking of pictures, so I will post them all at once! Hehe 🙂

2/31 ::jewelery::

This was an easy picture to take, since I don’t have much jewelery to choose from. One piece that I do wear most often is my rainbow pendent. I really like to wear this necklace because it shows pride, but isn’t over-the-top, look-at-me, flashy.

3/31 ::Scattered::

While I was out grocery shopping I was thinking about what I could take a picture of for today’s theme. Luckily when I got home my fabulous furbabies, Jury and Ruka, had decided to surprise me and create their own response to today’s challenge. Here is Jury and Ruka’s ::scattered:: picture:

Ahh, scattered dog toys and by dog toys I also mean that couch and Loki (our crazy bipolar cat)! Ha-ha 🙂

4/31 ::where I slept::

Okay this picture is not of where I slept because I was at work from 8pm (Saturday evening) until 12 noon(this morning) That’s 16 hours people and I still haven’t slept! So instead here is a picture of where I will be sleeping in just a few short moments.

Our cramped, full-sized bed complete with mismatched pillows and a Wolfie blankie 🙂

And of course Jury and Ruka couldn’t pass up a chance to snuggle with Mommy 🙂

They love to snuggle with Mommy! 🙂

So there you have it and now I’m officially caught up! Phew! I detest being behind, especially something that I really look forward to. Now I am going to collapse on my bed and probably immediately fall asleep. Night night 😉

Self Portraits and Birthdays, Yay!

In order to ease my jumbled mind from all things baby and ttc, I have decided to take part in a photo challenge thanks to my new bloggy friend Kara (I love making new bloggy friends) 🙂

While sitting in the library during my break between classes, I was trying to be good and study for a midterm that I had to take about an hour later. I’ve never had to study before, so my tolerance for spending long spans of time trying to study is very low. My mind wanders so easily. I needed to do something else before I clawed my eyes out (not literally since I do enjoy my vision). Naturally I decide to waste some time and take my self-portrait (DUH!! Because what else would I do in a three-story library with a midterm looming in my near future?!?!) So here’s the result and I even put some pink flowers around as a border. So pretty! 🙂

On another note, it is my boy’s birthday today!!! I can’t believe he is three years old already! We made him his sugar cookies of course (they’re his favorite!) and we sang to him. He was thrilled to be able to wear his birthday outfit and he proudly pranced around showing it off.

Yes, he loves pink. He’d wear a rainbow collar with Swarovski crystals if I bought him one 🙂

Well it’s time for bed! Another midterm tomorrow and then my 14 hour work night (yuck) and then 16 hours the next night (double yuck)! I need my beauty rest, haha 😉

Good night, lovelies ❤

Snow Puppies!!!

Well today it finally happened. Our backyard was (and is) finally covered with thick, luscious, powdery white snow! We’ve waited for this for a long time; since we haven’t had snow covering the ground since that weird snow storm in October. Needless to say Jury and Ruka were so excited to finally be able to frolic and play in the snow! This is their favorite time of year and they would gladly stay outside for hours if we would let them. Even Loki was watching the snow fall from his comfy spot on the windowsill; sadly I missed that picture opportunity. So of course I had to take lots and lots of pictures of our snow covered furbabies. These guys are two crazy German Shepherds 🙂

Snow Love ❤

There's a reason why Prancer is one of Ruka's (many) nicknames, ha-ha!

Ruka loves to cool his belly off in the snow!

Jury likes the snow!

Ruka snuggling with his Mommy after a long, hard play in the snow.

And since I missed his snow watching picture, here is Loki warming his fur by the fireplace on his favorite basket.

Yay for snowy goodness! 🙂

ARRRRGH!!!

AHHHHHHHH! For the second time, I have tried to post something and gotten an error, and if that isn’t bad enough when I go to re-publish my extremely long post I find that more than half of it has disappeared!! So in a quick recap….Christmas was lovely, but not without the usual family drama. One delightful highlight was of course my super special present that came in the mail! I was extremely excited to take part in this year’s Holiday Craft Exchange  and when I found a little brown package, that came all the way from Seattle, on my front porch I wasted little time in getting that baby in the house and practically pouncing on it like a lioness on a weak gazelle. Inside was the most charming chinese-style container filled with all sorts of goodies from the lovely ladies at Adventures In Making A Baby.

Thank you Kat, Anna and Arden (whose name I just adore by the way) for our wonderful little gifties! I think it’s pretty neat that we both got each others names in the exchange 🙂 I can’t wait for next year’s craft exchange; it is such a great way to meet other bloggers.

Well that’s it for now. It’s time for The Big Bang Theory and a glass (or more) of wine. I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!!!

Introducing…….Frederick Phineas Fern!!!!

Yes we named our christmas tree…….. Yes we know we have issues 🙂

Well here he is, in all his glammed out, glitzy glory!

Naked and ready for action!

Anyone got a light?

"Do these ornaments make me look fat?"

"Listen ladies, it's time to stop trimming this tree. I'm beginning to look like Lady GaGa."

It took Me, T and MF (her mom)  a total of five hours to dress him up! Five hours, six strands of lights, tons of ornaments, and countless strands of tinsel (icicles)…..it was exhausting! Fun, but exhausting! Next on the festive to-do list………Furbaby Christmas Pictures!!! (I hear the wine calling my name now…… That will be a taxing task and I’m sure I will need a glass. Or two!)

Our baby boy

Around the time Jury was five months old, I got to thinking that she needed a sibling. I knew, however, that for T to agree to another puppy it would take extreme persistence on my part. She loves animals, but she’s never really had a dog, especially not a big dog and two German Shepherds is a whole lot of big dog. So to gently ease her into the idea of another puppy, when we were out and about doing some kind of shopping, I would casually ask if we could stop at the pet store to look at the animals and see if they had any German Shepherds, since stores usually didn’t. We must have been to the pet stores at least three times a week for about a month. The workers were starting to stare at us like we were crazy since we never bought anything. Eventually, I think she began to warm up to the idea of maybe having two dogs, but her stipulation was that she really wanted an all black or all white one. So we looked and looked, but we never saw any.

Then one day about a week after Jury’s six month birthday, we were in the car going to the grocery store when we spotted a pet store we had never gone to before. I asked her if she wanted to check and see if they had any German Shepherds and she replied that it didn’t really matter since we couldn’t get one even if they did. I said well “let’s just go and look”. Well we just went and looked and surprise surprise they just happened to have two German Shepherd puppies. They were both boys. I looked at the first one and walked right past him, he was cute but he wasn’t meant to be mine. As soon as I saw the other puppy, I knew he was meant to be mine. I cooed and gushed about how beautiful and cuddly he was and even though he wasn’t all black he was pretty darn close. I wanted to hold him and so T asked the sales lady if we could see him out of the cage; she said quite rudely that you can only hold the puppies if you were going to buy them. T told her that we weren’t going to buy a puppy that we couldn’t even hold first, so the rude lady took him out of his little hay filled glass prison and placed him in my arms. In the three seconds I held him, I was completely smitten with him. I passed him off to T so she could hold him and stare into his little baby puppy dog eyes and I could tell she was falling a little in love too. And guess what…. We were so taking him home. We rushed to the nearest atm, took all of the money out of our checking account, went back to the pet store and became the happy mama’s of this beautiful baby boy…

Six week old Ruka snuggled up in a blanket

Ruka is a very unique and shall I say flamboyant dog. He always likes to carry around my clothes and wear them sometimes. And as he was growing we noticed that his tail was curly, like a Siberian Husky. We were curious because we didn’t know if this meant that he was a mixed bread or not (not that it mattered at all; we were just wanted to know. So I looked on the American Kennel Club website and searched their information about German Shepheds. Surprisingly, it’s an actual condition when the dog’s tail curls when it’s not supposed to; it happens because the tendon on the underside of the tail isn’t strong enough to hold the tail down. And what it this condition called? Anyone have a guess? No? Well when a dogs’ tail curls and it’s not supposed to, the dog is said to have a ‘gay tail’. I kid you not. I found it comical that my little flamboyant prancing boy had a gay tail. How appropriate!

Ruka at four and a half months, flaunting his gay tail loud and proud 🙂

Ruka is and always has been a Mommies’ boy. He pretty much attached to my hip and gets very jealous if anoyone else, even Jury or his Mom, tries to come near me or if I give someone else my attention.  He’ll squeeze himself right between anyone to get the attention back to him. He’s my boy and I love him!

Our eldest furbaby

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved animals. There wasn’t a time when there wasn’t some form of furry creature running around, whether a dog, cat or rabbit. So it was no surprise when my love and I moved out of our little apartment and into our first house that I would want a puppy. Now T  has never really been a dog person (she came into this relationship with five cats), so she was a bit apprehensive about the whole dog thing. She had successfully side tracked my mind from a puppy until one morning my mother called. She was selling up at the flea market and she noticed a couple selling German Shepherd puppies, and offered to buy me one if we came down to look at them and happened to want one. I was up and dressed before I even hung up the phone and T was sort of resistant to the whole idea still. So I said “let’s just go and look”. (Those exact words are spoken by me again in the near future).

Once we got there we had no idea that our family would be one member larger by the time we got home. We walked up to the couple selling the puppies and saw the most precious little beauty. We fell in love! She had the sweetest face and the cutest little belly and that was that. She was coming home with us. Immediately after we left the market, we went to visit T’s parents to introduce them to our new little bundle of joy, Jury.

Our sweet baby girl.......6 weeks old

Of course nowadays, at almost three years old, she isn’t quite as small as she was back then. She is however still as lovable and well tempered as when we brought her home. Now she’s just a huge baby who thinks she’s a lap dog. But we love her even when she tries to sleep on top of us.
